Brand Refresh & Campaign — Lead Designer
Mortgages. One of the most important but confusing products we come across. And as time goes on, more players enter the murky world of mortgage advice.
Addressing the confusion head on was at the centre of the Aussie Home Loans rebrand. With DNA of being a straight talking character, Aussie gave the market clarity by expressing the human elements of what makes their broker experience unique.
Coupled with an expansion of their iconic pallete, updated typography, grid and layout, the bold brand rolled out across 200 stores, 1000 brokers and every channel imaginable including website, apps, social and comms.
To ensure brand consistency, the identity needed to be flexible and simple enough for franchisees and local brokers to adhere to and create their own local communications. The governance and process around this refreshed brand rollout is strict and clear given the franchisee’s desire to ‘create their own’.

My role as lead designer meant undertaking everything from research, to exploration, and execution, supported by the Head of Design and a Senior Designer. This involved development of logo usage, colour, typography, grids, print and digital templates, photography usage and a guide to campaign. This was presented in Aussie’s refreshed brand guidelines document. Ensuring the identity system remained simple enough for Aussie’s large network of mortgage brokers and retained existing visual equity.
